Course Objective
The class will look at a different modernist/contemporary artist each week and discuss how the artist is acting as an inventor, creating something new. What gives an artist a unique voice, is it the narrative, the mediums used, the colors, texture? What makes this work timely, relevant? I will teach history with an inquiry based approach. The class will create their own innovative art works using techniques or approaches inspired by the artists we look at, using simple materials found at home. Artists Frida Kahlo, Andy Warhol, Jackson Pollack, Yayoi Kusama, Yoko Ono, David Hammons included. ... More Less
